P Plates

Out into the Real World

There’s nothing better than the feeling of getting your P Plates for the first time. Whether your scene is cruising the foreshore, heading out with mates, heading to school or just getting to A to B, the freedom and fun you get out of getting your P’s is unreal.

But does your driving training end the minute you get your P’s? One thing we’ve learned over our 29 years on the road is that it’s not the end of Learning to Drive..!!!! A shocking statistic is that 1 in 5 P Platers has some sort of accident before they get their full licence.

If you do have even a minor accident the car will more than likely off the road for a period of time. What that means is $$$, a lot of wasting time, and losing that freedom and enjoyment of driving around.

That’s why Jan’s Driving School has developed a course for when you first get your P’s, which tries to help you get the best start while you’re on P Plates and stay out of trouble. We’re proud to be able to offer Low Risk Defensive Driving courses in association with National Driver Education, to try to focus on the issues which affect you on your P Plates, providing you with key skills for the rest of your life.

This course is an intensive 6 hour course, run over one day in a private, non-racetrack venue which covers all areas of Low Risk Driving. This includes:

  • Key Accident Influences
  • Hazard Awareness and Perception
  • Vision and Car Control Factors
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Safety Checks
  • Braking Techniques
  • Crash Avoidance Techniques

These are taught using a mixture of theory and practical exercises to reinforce a better driving attitude and technique. This is in a private, safe and controlled venue to illustrate these points. Our instructors for the courses are ex-police driver trainers and fully qualified driving instructors with significant experience in low risk driver training.
